Close Encounters of the Deer Kind

Well, for the first time in my life, I had a car accident and at the same instance I had my first encounter with a deer!! Needless to say, this was NOT fun! I was driving my husbands jeep to lunch Sunday after church, around 1pm with my aunt and uncle in the back seat. We were on our way to meet my parents for lunch at the lake. Well, as the title of this post describes, we were hit in the side by TWO deer!!! I can honestly say that I have never been so scared! I managed to get the jeep safely out of the road and keep it under control. However, in this process, the drivers window (my window) was shattered as well as the back cargo window on my side along with the mutilation of the drivers rear view window!!! Thankfully that was the extent of the major damage! No one was injured (praise God!) and the jeep was not totaled!

These are pictures taken right after the accident! As you can see...it was bad, but could have been so much worse!!! Thankfully the driver window has safe glass and didn't shatter on my face!!! Needless to say, We will be vaccuuming out glass for a good while!!

Pictures from Korea

Jamie has learned from me about taking pictures, and here are a few of them that he has taken.
This is Jamie and some of the members of Gladiators! How cool! The next one is Jamie and some of his platoon atop Hill 303 after reenlisting one of his soldiers.
As you can see, Jamie is doing well!!

Max Won 1st Place!!!

This past Saturday, Max and I attended the 2nd annual Bark in the Park. It was hosted by my church. There were about 50 people there with their pups. There were many different categories to enter your dog in to win...some were Cutest dog, Oldest, Youngest, Saddest Eyes, Best Trick, Pet Owner Look-alike, Best Costume, Largest, and Smallest. Well Max won the Best Trick contest!!! I was so proud of him! :) I didn't know if he would "perform" while still on the leash but he did great! It was a beautiful day, and we had a lot of fun!
This is Max "posing" with his awards...as you can tell by his ears, he was not happy about the string around his neck. But he is proud of his ribbon! :)

New Development with the Burton's

Well, as most of you know, Jamie and I have been going back and forth on me moving to Korea with him. We were waiting to hear about a possible job for me here in Texas. Well, the final verdict came out today, and yours truly is now an employee of the City of Killeen Parks and Recreation Department as the Recreation Center Supervisor!!! Jamie and I are very excited, and I cannot wait to begin working...which should be next week!!
Texas is growing on me, and I have found a new church that I love, and am very excited about starting this new stage with my career!! Thank you all for the love and support!!!
Update on Jamie: He is doing just fine! He is really busy, which is to be expected in a potential war situation. But he likes it, and is doing well!

Beautiful Skies in Texas

Nightly, Max and I walk and/or run around the neighborhood so that he can say hello to everyone and mark all of his territory. We love walking under skies like this!

Update from South Korea...Jamie is doing good. His work is slow right now, but he seems to like Korea. He is walking everywhere, and stated how everywhere he goes he has to walk up at least one hill. He will begin apartment hunting next week for us so that I will know what items to send him. I am so glad that he is doing so good!
This is how good/tired Max was tonight. He just waited for me to take my pictures and stared at the neighbors cat. (which he hates!)

Our Living Room is complete

Well, after being in our new house in Texas for almost three months, my decorating is complete! I finally got the frame that we have been looking at so that our lovely wedding photo can hang in our living room. The ironic part of this, is that yesterday I met with a Property Manager so that we can rent our house when I leave for Korea. HA! Its great to finally have the room complete, but it's just in time to take it all down. Although it won't be up long, I am going to enjoy it while it is up!

Jamie and Allison Burton

Hello all!! This is certainly a new thing for me...I have never blogged before, but I figure this will enable our friends and family to keep up with us. For those of you who dont know, Jamie and I got married on July 4th!! We then moved to Killeen, Texas into our beautiful new home! :)

Although being newlyweds is great, we knew that we had to prepare for Jamie's departure to Korea. Living so far from "home" was a challenge at first, but it got easier with time! The first 3 months flew by entirely too quickly!

This past Sunday, Jamie's mother, Vicki, and I took him to the airport at 5:30am! It was certainly the hardest thing that I have had to do. He is now stationed at Camp Carroll in South Korea. The good thing is that, I am able to go with him soon! The Army is allowing spouses and families to accompany soldiers on this trip, and we are taking advantage of that! Our plan right now is for me to arrive in Korea on or around December 1st. Right now, I am filling out paperwork, sorting our household items, figuring out the entire moving process in the Army...which is very challenging especially overseas! We are excited to take this journey together, and explore the world!!!
