Love, pride, and honor!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY everyone!: ) Well as most of you know this day holds so much emotion for myself and my family! Not only is it our nations birthday, but its the Burton's anniversary! :) Its unbelievable that a year has passed already!!! With the approach of this day I am completely overwhelmed with love, pride, honor, and a little sorrow. Today marks the day that I married my best friend and promised to be with him forever and for this I am grateful! Today is also the day that we celebrate all of the men and women in uniform and thank them for all that they do. So far that's two for two! Jamie is the most amazing man I know and is my hero for all that he does! I cannot thank him or his fellow soldiers and their families enough for the sacrifices that they make!!! Last but not least, the little bit of sorrow is simply the fact that Jamie is not here...BUT he is safe, and that is all that matters!!! He will be coming home SOON and for that I praise God! I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday and stays safe! As for the Burton's...we just checked off the first year and cannot wait for MANY more to come! :)

Has it really been 365 days?

As the anniversary of the most wonderful day of my life approaches, I can do nothing but be thankful! Thankful that the Lord allows me to wake up each day, thankful that my dear sweet husband is safe, thankful that I have wonderful family and friends who don't "forget" about me just because I live in Texas. I can honestly say that I have never been so proud to be Mrs. James Burton! The work that Jamie is doing and will do is wonderful, and every day I love him more and more!
Looking back on the past year, Jamie and I have been through little and a lot at the same time. Few holidays and big events together, but many small hurdles. Such as not speaking for weeks at a time due to him being in the field; or playing phone tag when he can only call at one time during the day due to my work. Married life is fabulous, but I have to assume that it will be even better when I get to see my husband every now and again! :) This year has been tough, but very doable.Being an Army wife is certainly a challenge, but I have no doubt in my mind that the Lord put us together because he knew that we would be just fine!
As I reflect on this past year, I cannot help but wonder what is next? What does the good Lord have in store for us now? So much has changed in just 365 short days! Marriage, moved across the country, new house, new job, and the husband being deployed. To me, it seems like just another day, but to some it seems impossible. It really humors me when non-Army people look at me with sad puppy dog eyes when they ask me about my husband and I begin to tell them. Why are you sad?? Are you going to miss my husband for me?! HA! I'm not sad, I'm living my life, and so should you! I am an Army wife, which means that I will spend too much time away from my husband...its what we do! :) I just hope and pray that this next year will be better than the first and brings amazing things to the Burton's!

Long Overdue Update!

Well, its almost June, which means that Jamie comes home in three-ish months! Holy moly it seems like yesterday it was 9 months away!! Since I have been so bad about updating my blog, I will go back to his R & R visit! This picture is the first one I took after he got home. We had my friend Shannon and her husband over for a cook out that night and it was so fun! :) We spent time in Tennessee as well seeing family which was awesome! The next pictures are of Jamie and I and our neice and nephews at the zoo on Easter weekend.

Its very interesting to us how they appear as though they could be our children! HA!! :) Cole, the youngest is the cutest thing ever! Jamie and I now know what our children will look like, because he is a spitting image of Jamie!!

Onto more recent updates. I have really started studying and researching photography so that I can get a really great camera and know what I am doing!:) Work is busy as ever, but thats great because it keeps me busy! Right now its all about counting down days until the fall!!! I promise to update everyone as soon as I can when things come up! :)

Downhill Slide! 6 months down...6 months to go!

Well, the time has been quickly approaching to Jamie's R & R!!! He flies home March 25th and we are both so very excited! I am so mad at myself about not blogging much lately, but work has been overwhelming lately and will continue to be that way for a while longer. I do love my job, and love the experiences that its giving me for my future endeavors. Back to Jamie's visit, we are planning on taking a quick trip to Tennessee to see family and we are very excited about that! I will post pictures of our trip home as well as other new pictures after he is gone. I have to say, that this past Tuesday I got the day off because of SNOW!! I couldn't believe that it actually snowed in Texas! Ha! :)

Holidays...Party of One

Well, I/we made it...we got through our first Thanksgiving and Christmas as a married couple, apart. HA! To me, this helps me, because now we are officially in 2010 which means Jamie comes home this year!!! Christmas was a bittersweet holiday for me this year. Thankfully i got to skype with Jamie on Christmas morning and I got to see him open his gifts. Skype is the most amazing thing ever for military families!! The countdown has officially begun until Jamie comes home for R & R!!! I cannot wait!!! He is scheduled to come home around the end of March...and thats less than 75 days away!!! HOOAH! :) I have spent some time this weekend redecorating our house, but don't have my camera at home, so I will post pictures soon! I really hope that I remember to update this more often this year! It's going to be a great year for the Burton's and we are super excited!!

Close Encounters of the Deer Kind

Well, for the first time in my life, I had a car accident and at the same instance I had my first encounter with a deer!! Needless to say, this was NOT fun! I was driving my husbands jeep to lunch Sunday after church, around 1pm with my aunt and uncle in the back seat. We were on our way to meet my parents for lunch at the lake. Well, as the title of this post describes, we were hit in the side by TWO deer!!! I can honestly say that I have never been so scared! I managed to get the jeep safely out of the road and keep it under control. However, in this process, the drivers window (my window) was shattered as well as the back cargo window on my side along with the mutilation of the drivers rear view window!!! Thankfully that was the extent of the major damage! No one was injured (praise God!) and the jeep was not totaled!

These are pictures taken right after the accident! As you can see...it was bad, but could have been so much worse!!! Thankfully the driver window has safe glass and didn't shatter on my face!!! Needless to say, We will be vaccuuming out glass for a good while!!

Pictures from Korea

Jamie has learned from me about taking pictures, and here are a few of them that he has taken.
This is Jamie and some of the members of Gladiators! How cool! The next one is Jamie and some of his platoon atop Hill 303 after reenlisting one of his soldiers.
As you can see, Jamie is doing well!!
